Unseen Frequencies Diploma
2025
The project explores the desire to approach a more-than-human world - one that exists outside our sensory range. It creates a space that accepts incompleteness rather than pretending to understand.
The Šur primeval forest, a protected area with high biodiversity supported by decaying warm deadwood and restricted from human access, appears not as a direct representation, but as an experience of nearness and inaccessibility, a self-regulating ecosystem where time unfolds differently and boundaries dissolve.
Visual and audio layers, 3D scans, thermal imagery, drone footage, and recordings of high-frequency waves, are presented in large-scale projections that respond to the viewer’s presence. The viewer’s shadow interrupts the image, becoming a metaphor for human impact and our inability to fully see or grasp nature. The work offers not comprehension, but a sensitive movement along the edge of the perceptible.
